It's definitely allowed for bots. Ever heard of assisted mode? As apposed to playing against humans, that is 100% not allowed.

To test the strength of the bot vs an engine, or to test the strength of an engine vs the bot, or to see if you can beat a much stronger bot with limited engine assistance.
