Attack the Queen

We have all probably played a game where we became so affixed on attacking the opponents Queen that we lose focus on the strategy that we have chosen for the particular game. Keeping an eye out for a trap in which the queen may fall into is a great idea! However, making specific moves that only serve to attack the Queen instead of developing the position towards the game-plan or strategic goal may prove to be fatal for you instead of your opponent!

The following game is (I believe) an example of such strategy gone astray.

Well the idea of attacking the queen is particularly usefull in the opening. And at my town's interschool tournament the beginners (and often people that finish in the top ten as well!) bring out their queen early. In fact, one of my favourite e4 openings to play against is Scandinavian Defense. An example of tempo and development gained by this might go something like this.

An interesting defense...like a game of cat and mouse. It is great example for either case. Bringing the Queen out too early and becoming a target and white becoming affixated on chasing it around till his position is compromised.

Thanks for your example, I will be looking for this opening in the future.

That was just an example i created, but if you look into the Scandinavian then the first few moves usually try to annoy the queen. This is a trap in the Scandinavian that has actually being played, although after about move 4 it strays from the main line.

Very cool trap!! You are right though, Black strayed from proper development which would have prevented the trap.
