The most similar position I recall to the one you mention is the following:

In the final position of your diagram, tha a6 move seems not to make much sense/purpose. That position reminds me of a classical French position in which Black is much better placed. The position in question arises after 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.e5 Nfd7 5.f4 c5 6.Nf3 Nc6

What do you think, has Black achieved more on your diagram, or in the French Defense line? That's why I wouldn't recommend the move order you mentioned.

I am no MD expert, but this is my honest opinion. All comments and critics are most welcome.

i don't like french defense Tongue Out  i play d5 because i'm afraid of f4-f5(or e4-e5) advance Embarassed

I encourage you to try the line from my first diagram, recommended by GM Hillarp Persson, one of the best Modern Defense players.

Whenever you encounter a problem, feel free to post it either here or in the "Analysis of your OTB games" thread in the forums, supposing it's not a blitz game. We'll see to analyze together. Thank you :)

and if f5? what i can do? gxf5? Nf6? Embarassed

OTB i never played this position...

Please be more concrete. What position are you referring to?

What kind of threat is f5 ater all? What does it threaten? To take on g6? I doubt that White's idea is f2-f4-f5xg6. That's 4 tempi after all, not achieving much. Black is not going to do wait, eh. I would like to see a concrete position where f5 is played, if you mind.

It doesn't have to be OTB. Whenever you play a rapid chess.com game, where you thought about the moves, not just blitzing them out, is OK for analysis. We are here to improve, after all. Smile

the position of your first diagram, after Bb7 Embarassed

if i see that position in a game i'll show it

There was a recent game in this variation, by Gata Kamsky with the Black pieces.

rickpa

Yes, I pretty much think Black is fine after ...Nf6 in that position. Black's pieces are well coordinated aiming e4-pawn. This is like a good Dragon Sicilian position for Black, kind of.

after 5 years playing modern defense, i know that the best move is h5 instead of Nh6 (at least for my playing style)

After h5, i have 75% winrate (with 28 games) tongue.png . For example, a game of mine happy.png

the main idea is to stop the g2-g4 move. Sometimes i need to play h5-h4

i think that it's called Gurgenidze system
