Yeah I was thinking the Gateway Arch too as a potential choice. The Arch is internationally known as not just the most iconic symbol of St. Louis but typically of Missouri too. There are also many good pictures of it to choose from.

I like the rusted Route 66 sign too.

I think the Arch is the front-runner. People who like the dark UI are hoping for something less bright and busy here.

Maybe we will want to use a landscape picture. Here is Lake of the Ozarks for instance :

I suppose the arch is the most widely-known icon for MO.  ?  I think the Chess Hall of Fame images are also appropriate here.

I like the retro "Greetings" map (postcard?) and the old Rte. 66 one. Spent many a summer on 66 as a kid, traveling from Southern California to see Dad's relatives here in MO.
