BCC Size 4 Loaded Royal Staunton Chessmen

I just received this lovely little set and thought to post few photos here. King stands 3 1/4” tall, so it’s much smaller set than what I have gotten used to but it feels good to play. Also the quality of the pieces is amazing...to me it seems even better than my club size Jaques “Marshal style” set from early 20th century.

(I know that the clock is not age appropriate...but I just like its tone. I will also shortly have something bit closer to the early 20th century coming)

My 2.25” board is slightly too big for these pawns The Xylonite knights are really the highlights of this set in my opinion I also love that the bishops are different from Jaques sets ...as are the rooks

I was very happy to get the set with its original box

The Bishops has a similar design to the Bishops from a Drueke 820.40.

Oh I see. I have to admit that I am not familiar with Drueke's production

BCC, British Chess Company. They were early competitors to Jaques. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Chess_Company

This particular set is manufactured in early 1890’s

Here is a video of the Drueke set I mentioned in my post that the Bishops remind me of.

Very nice set and board. Yes the bishop design is indeed similar

Nice set. Very good acquisition.

I like that style of Bishop. The Rook parapets seem to be slightly tapered in, are they or is it just an optical illusion?

I like the Knights also, nice look to them.

Thank you 🙏🏻 And yes the rook parapets are slightly tapered in indeed. (I can post some more photos later)

The knights have quite unique design that I really like personally.
