Beginner Book on the English

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on some good books on the English opening. I'm pretty new to the English, and so I'm trying to find a book that covers positional concepts and plans in addition to theory. On the other hand, I don't want a really basic book that will quickly become useless to me as my chess playing improves. Finally, while price isn't a huge issue, I don't really want to spend a ton of money on a book that is out of print or difficult to find. Thanks!

How heavy is Karpov's book on analysis compared to, say, Kosten's book? I consider Kosten's book to be fairly analysis-heavy for my level, so I was wondering if it was even worth looking at Karpov's work yet.

Thanks; I'll do that.

Still, I have to say that I look forward to reading what one of the greatest players ever has to say about the English :-).
