Chess.com Ratings

Bullet: 507
Blitz: 678
Rapid: 890

1351 games and 336 puzzles in the past 30 days.

I pretty much started on chess.com 3 weeks ago, so I'm trying to go hard the next week as well to see where the ratings end up at.

It's unconventional, but I'm trying to get my bullet rating up because it's fun, to help with my blitz rating and time troubles.

10 days ago I was about 300 bullet rating which was correct imo. ~350 a week ago. The diff from that to 500 was puzzle rush, and I only started doing it 5 days ago. I'm really surprised at the diff, since it doesn't feel that much diff playing from 10 days ago. I'm documenting everything here since it feels like I'm plateaued at puzzle rush, but it could still be helping.

I'm still sprinkling in some dailies and 15/10 rapids. I also really like daily and rapid 960. I find it funny that I rarely am ahead in time in 15/10 games, but I really like bullet.

Rapid: 924 (+34)
Daily: 913 (+70)
3m puzzle rush: 26 (+3)

64 games and 40 puzzles the past 7 days. A lot of 3m puzzle rush. Feel like I found my groove with 3m blitz. 1m bullet too fast. 5m blitz I feel outplayed.
The bullet rating is a bit misleading. Trying to fix my sleep lately, and I feel like playing longer.

I feel like I'm playing way better in longer time controls, but I'm struggling in bullet and blitz. Everyone is so good. I feel strong in 3m blitz which is a sweet spot for me between 60s bullet and 5m blitz.

My daily rating dropped because I blundered my last game, and I only have 5 rated games lifetime. I play unrated dailies against my friend who's way better than me.
I just played my first 30m rapid, and I love it. It feels like I'm playing a 2-hr long classical game. I got so much more out of the analysis of that game than my 15/10s. I'm learning so much, and trying some unsound gambits out. I feel like the rating will follow, but it's taking longer than I thought it would. Everyone is so good online.

Beat my 1350 daily friend twice in a row for the first time ever. Started playing on lichess. Ultrabullet is hilariously fun. Also realizing I really enjoy arena games vs queuing up by hand. It's really nice to be able to play higher rated players, and have a time limit to queue.

I think I'm only getting stronger from puzzles. Playing doesn't seem to do much for me. It's really hard to translate my calculation skills to 10m rapid, and that's why my rating tanked. I'm actually taking more sophisticated lines, but I just didn't have enough time to figure them out. I'd get rushed and would blunder.

I want to be good at all time controls, so I'm doing a lot of problems in the puzzle rating range of 800-1200 on chess.com to increase my accuracy and speed. Those problems feel more like what I'm running into at 10m rapid, and it's the range when I start to slow down in 3m puzzle rush. I've always done a lot of 3m puzzle rush, so that's why my bullet and blitz ratings went up. Also prob good variance.

Yikes, I can't believe it's been 19 days!

Chess.com Rapid is 982. I'm on a 12 game chesscom win streak, excluding the unrated games I played against my almost 1200 friend.

In hindsight, studying openings and survival puzzle rush (and lichess's puzzle survival) has been what's helping. I feel like the opening study has been 80% of it as I've plateaued in puzzles for a bit now, and I'm just working on speed, which is coming slowly now.

I also played my first otb game where I played a 30m lichess classical game online but played it otb. That was yesterday, but I felt like seeing the pieces irl made it easier to not blunder. I actually got into a bit of time trouble, so 45m is prob better for me.
