Hm. I can't tell if this is a troll. If his next post talks about how Rust is his favorite language then I'll know for sure it's not.

Software engineer for 5+ years here. I've been developing personal projects on Ubuntu since my first internship (dual boot with windows for gaming / other entertainment). I would highly recommend that before trying any others.

Ive already tried Ubuntu, dont rly like the gui, prefer kde

You can have any gui on any distro. You can also have the same development tools.

The only difference is system maintanance and how fast new versions of software becomes available. But as long as you don't use a server distro, you have new versions within a couple of months which should be enough for nearly anyone.
