I have a more complete BDG library, beginning with Vom Ersten an Auf Matt! published by E.J. Diemer in 1957.

Then post it here. We'd love to see what's been written! Cool

Any must reads on the list? How are the Mega CD's? Oh you have to get the everman book on the BDG.

DrawMaster

Darthmambo, thanks for reminding me. I acquired the Scheerer (Everyman Chess) book as soon as it came out in 2011. I've now added it to the list above - which you will note was compiled 6 years ago. Smile

Additionally, Schiller seems to have issued updates of both his books on the BDG, but I can't get myself to spend money on a couple of updates. I doubt he has resurrected the Ryder, but I'd love to know what the differences are between my 1995 version and the 2011 version.

DrawMaster, funny you say that, one of my friends told me about Schiller update to the BDG and I saw the Ryder. Was tempted to by them myself. Oh I also just say a BDG Keybook III. It is electronic I belive. You need a program to read it. Anyone have it?

DrawMaster

Hmmm. Keybook III ... I will have to look into that. Might be worth the purchase.

[Update 1] ... looks like it is in Chess Opening Wizards format:

If that's true, I'm less inclined, I don't really want another program, as I already have ChessBase. However, if it's just a reader program, that might be fine as long as there's no cost for the reader itself.

[Update 2] It appears that it would run in Chess Openings Wizard Lite ... which is free, so maybe OK ... again, these days, I'm on a Mac and don't bring up my PC emulator that often, so that's another inconvenience. Still, I'd love to know what's in III.

There's over a hundred pages of analysis of the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit in this free Google ebook: http://tinyurl.com/pchyq6q

many years ago a friend of mine (Ray Wheeler) who played the BDG when ever he could loaned me every book he had on the BDG . tons of old stuff. he died while i was in possesion of his books and his wife let me keep them . there are four books on "das moderne BDG". band 1,2,3 and 4 . i don't know where he got it , but there is also the whole book "das moderne BDG" band 1 translated to english . it is typed out on many pages . i have started to put all the words and moves on my chess base 12 exactly as in the book . Diemer's writing is so interesting ! he loved the double pawn sac . i also have almost every new BDG book that's been published since .

The German books on the BDG used to be sold by Chess Digest.  I got mine through Ebay. Also, Band 1 is identical to Diemer's 1957 book. I alo heard that Freidl's book is based in part on material that Diemer had. EJD wanted to publish Volume 2, but he never did.

An English translation of Diemer's book was never done. Maybe you should do it in time for 2017.

The only book you need is the Sheerer one. Amazing research, there is enough material for a life of study

Are there any books or good videos on this particular line? https://www.chess.com/openings/D00_Queens_Pawn_Opening_Blackmar_Diemer_Diemer_Rosenberg_Attack

I've played I think 4 OTB games with this opening and won all 4.

Does anyone have experience with the chess central BDG database?
