nice!
Books on Morphy
I have "Paul Morphy and the Golden Age of Chess", But was disappointed with the Lack of so many of Morphy's Games.
I HAVE to get "Paul Morphy and the Evolution of Chess Theory"!
Powells Books in Portland have an original 1St ed. by Caissa Editions for 80.00 and for 16.95 you can get the newer version from Dover Publications there.
Is there any differences between these two publishings?
I would like to have the 1st Edition, but would be disappointed if it didn't have the Letters or Essay.
I have PAUL MORPHY: A MODERN PERSPECTIVE by Valeri Beim. A very interesting and fair look at Paul's games. Here is a site. http://www.jeremysilman.com/book_reviews_jd/jd_morphy_a_modern_perspective.html

If anyone would be interested in a read on the European journey of Paul Morphy, told by Frederick Milnes Edge (friend and former secretary of Morphy), the ebook is available here for free:

A First book of Morphy is an amazing book. I teach and coach chess fulltime, specialized in junior players. I use a large number of Morphy's games because they are exciting and demonstrate clearly the idea of aggressive attacking chess. The First Book of Morphy is wonderfully annotated and should be in your collection. It is very clearly written which makes it ideal for the beggining to imtermediate player.
You can download digitized antique books on Morphy - close to when he actually lived from www.books.google.com and search for Paul Morphy - why pay for them??????
Up to you -
This isn't a book, but it is a good opportunity for some discussion about Morphy, thanks to our wonderful top blogger on this site @batgirl.

I thoroughly recommend following @batgirl as her blogs are often rich with historic research about chess.
300 games by the greatest player of all time: 54 against such masters as Anderssen, Harrwitz, Mongredien, Bird, Paulsen and others; 52 of the best blindfold games; 52 games at odds; and 142 in consultation, informally, etc. Detailed annotations of games by such expert analysts as Sergeant, Steinitz, Anderssen and Morphy himself.
This book, about the best chess player of the nineteenth century, analyzes Paul Morphy's games and positions in depth to reveal the essence of his style. The first collection in English of all 413 of Morphy's known games, the volume discusses other players of the period (Adolph Anderssen and Wilhelm Steinitz), Morphy's rare blunders and omissions, as well as selected endgames and openings. Also included are a 27-page essay on Morphy by Steinitz, and a series of letters between Alexander Alekhine and Eugene Znosko-Borovsky debating Morphy's chess style.
