Books on partial differential equations

Hi everybody (hi Doctor Nic),

I am looking for a book or two on PDEs. One that gives a nice and friendly introduction, and one that provides qualitative theory of PDEs or, if possible, one that does both.

All answers are welcome!

Thanks,

Summum Malum

P.S. I downloaded one called

Qualitative Analysis of Nonlinear Elliptic Partial Differential Equations

by a guy called Vicentiu D. Rădulescu, but it does not contain any excersises

try www.gigapedia.com...I searched and found lots of books on PDE there...some examples:

I hope the links work...there are many more there, just register.

Thank you Ripper! =) .. I have done a shallow search myself..

Does anyone have any experience with any of the books that Ripper posted? Or with other books within the subject??

"PDEs" + "nice and friendly" ?

...inconsistent data... does not compute ...

Bang! (sound of blowing diode)

lol!! =) .. well, you know what I mean.. Some books are exceedingly tedious to the point where it seems they are only that way to keep students from wanting to get into the subject, while others are more readily accessible =0)

Sort of like contrasting Guckenheimer & Holmes' book on dynamical systems (which is in fact not that tedious) with Strogatz' book on the same subject.
