i agree the you can not partner with so and so is kinda ridiculous especially if both players have it.
Bug: Partners playing one game after another ... or trying to
try "/partner X" ...it's in the command help menu "/help". took me a minute to figure out where to find instructions too.
Yeah, I have been going through this too. It is RIDICULOUS.
Not only does it take 20 minutes to get a game, but often you realize even though it says it is searching for a game it is in fact not really doing anything. The moment we unpartner, repartner, and reseek, a match starts immediately.
I've found the best way to get around chess.com's numerous programming errors which were introduced in the past 1.5 weeks is that if I haven't gotten an opponent within 5 minutes I do the following:
1) Click reload on my browser.
2) Sometimes this pops up the "Rematch, New Match" buttons and I find that neither is selected. When I click "New Match" I often instantly get a match.
3) Sometimes nothing appears. Then I go to the "Play" tab.
4) Sometimes I am listed as partnered to my current partner and I can click the "Play" button, which often results in an immediate match, but sometimes resumes the long wait for a match.
5) Sometimes I am listed as not partnered to my current partner. When I try to partner him, I am not allowed to do so with an error saying he is unavailable for partnerships. In fact, he is unavailable because he is partnered to me, but the terrible programming doesn't recognize that. So the best way to resolve that is to have my partner click reload on his browser, then click the "Play" tab, then unpartner me. Then we can repartner.
6) Sometimes neither of us shows up as partnered to each other, yet we are unable to partner each other with the error. In that case, one or both of us usually exits chess.com, clears all history and cache from our browsers, reboots our computers, goes to chess.com, and tries partnering again. This usually works. Of course, it is an obnoxious 5 minute process.
This is what happens when you have programmers who don't understand bughouse, never test their code, and introduce a lot of bugs. Yes, playing on chess.com has become almost impossible to tolerate with the long waits and programming errors. I still stick around because I hope eventually someone will give a damn and they will fix all the problems.
I strongly suggest that the programmers try playing bughouse for an hour. Then the site administrators should try playing bughouse for an hour. The only reason all of these programming errors persist is because no one with the ability to do anything about them ever plays the game or listens to anyone else who plays the game.
P.S. The programming error that makes observing and following bughouse games not work because white is always on the bottom of the partner's board still has not been fixed to my knowledge, weeks after it was first introduced.
We as partners get continuallly jerked around thru cycles of: having to X partner and reselect partner from 'recent opponent' list >>> "you cant partner with JohnDoe at this time".
Both partners having to go out to select PLAY >> BUGHOUSE >> SELECT PARTNER >> (ONE) ACCEPT >> PLAY.
All of this takes as long as playing a game AND I am not including WAITING FOR OPPONENT.
Chess.com needs to get the basic activity of playing games correctly.
Maybe you should have had the programmers working over the holidays.
Thanks for attempting to have Bug on the system.
