Seen two server reboots today, within an hour or two of each other.
The first time, in-game, 30 seconds added to clock.
The second time, in-game, 30 seconds added to clock, but the game did not restore properly, error message (pop-up): "parsePgn: Type Error: is.RuleVariants is undefined"
In the console, there is "uncaught (in promise)" in https://www.chess.com/bundles/app/js/variants-beta.client.hash.js:formatted:68856
And line 68856 in the debugger pretty-print is a dynamic call,
bs.onerror = function(ss) { gs(ss) }
A pointless exercise. That parsePgn error has been coming up for a while now. And the source is minimized and/or obfuscated.
Generally speaking, it is not good practice to take-down a production server without having a fail-over backup of the last good instance waiting in the wings. Especially in today's day and age of containers and virt. The client should poll the server for reboot, while keeping the user in-the-loop about status ... not just suddenly and randomly "Connecting" ... I don't think its asking too much.
If the client can alert 3x other players to a move in miliseconds (sans network time), then the client should also be capable of articulating information between moves, things like: "Server going down for reboot, polling status 5...4...3...2..." and then coming back to life in a reasonable period of time, without errors.
Rebooting is one thing, taking a server down twice in short order is simply no bueno.
While I was looking at the console information, the game finally came back to life. Must've been 5 minutes, easily. That's not a reasonable period of time. Apparently I forfeited on time ... while not being able to play. Games like that should be aborted without changing ratings points. it is not the end user's problem that your servers, or your developers have problems and issues.

I found this game

I think there is a serious problem in Fog of War Chess. I played the following game: https://www.chess.com/variants/fog-of-war/game/30509774/72/3 . Critical point is at move 36, where White played 36.f8Q+. At that point I could only think that the position was Q vs. R so I was happy that I saw this move on the board so I took the Q and think that I was up a full R against a lone K. The material situation display, next to the board on the left also proved my point! What could possibly go wrong from here? Maybe I blunder the R back - I thought. Not much later, I indeed blundered my R (on move 39). I was like "how is it possible, maybe a pawn reached c7, or Kc7?? (I already knew it was not a pawn on a7). Only when I saw the game afterwards I realized that the given and above mentioned material display mislead me. I took some screenshots on it. I highlight the bug with red color and I suggest the following fix to the soultion: instead of Q, please add the 3rd pawn into the blue circle! Why mislead players, when they already blind? I say this is too much! Pictures can be seen downside! Please fix this nonsense! Thank you in advance!

Bug with the cgabot for the custom variants
most if not all submissions get turned into Game of Points instead of the normal 2p play for mate for most variants this is not a serious problem but for some with lots of material or coloured dead pieces this can be very annoying
Above is the open testing image, below is the actual position
This is a problem for this variant because it is possible for one player to win by taking the dead blue queens
I put the queens there to make it look like water (my proposal is named Crossing the River) but I did not want the queens to be worth anything, they are blue and not grey for cosmetic purposes

Alright, so this is really weird. I have a position that's Fog of Setup31. But when I went to reinvite someone I played with, the new game was simply Setup31 without the fog.
The weirdest part is that we tried to draw, but neither of us could accept the other person's draw. It's pretty bizarre. This has happened twice now. Here's one that happened with me:
https://www.chess.com/variants/custom/game/30694832/33/3
And here's one from someone else:

Oh.
That used to be a NCP named something like 2 Player Chess 2.0
Old NCPs are still rated
I made it myself
There is a notation error with the winner in this game:

It mistakenly says “1-0”, but I won it as Black, so it is really “0-1”. Is it something with the game rules, perhaps?

I found that in a Crazy Custom position, in which I would start with an empty board, when all 3 players would start the game by placing a king the game would immediately end with an insufficient material message even though there's plenty of mating material in hand. I think for crazyhouse pieces in the players pockets should be taken into account before insufficient material is declared instead of just material currently on the board.
