Bug Reports

I think our devs are working on this already. Often reloading a page can help to fix the issue (sorry, I know it's such an annoying answer). It's happened to me a few times where the "play" button is still there and you click it and nothing happens (normally after a game has ended). Is that what's happening for you? I just reload the page and it seems to work.

Thank you. Yep, that’s the issue for me. Have tried reloading, using different browsers, different devices, clearing cookies, etc. No solution for me yet.

No one has looked into this bug for a month? I have an explanation: if the page is laggy, and your move comes right after a zombie's move, the server auto-moves for you on your first move, even if your move is one of the worst moves (aka it plays random moves). This bug is really annoying.

Have you been able to reproduce the bug in a new game?

Yes, I have reproduced it several times. Here are a few examples:

1. https://www.chess.com/variants/custom/game/52635785 Explanation: I was reloading the page when suddenly, Red and Blue moved. Then the server randomly made me play a blunder after I reloaded the page since my move preceded Blue's.

2. https://www.chess.com/variants/custom/game/52776544 It was taking longer than usual for the server to load the starting game, so instead of letting me start with my regular theory of this WoF (i.e. with Qxc11 or Qxc4), it just played an awkward move, 1.b Q7c7?!.

I was a playing a KotH game in a tournament and apparently my opponent ran out of time but when I reloaded, it turns out I had only a few seconds left on my clock. Game link below:

In Tag Team, the white and black pieces in the corner have not fully rendered. It's been like this for 2 days. I am using google chrome and this problem did not appear until 2 days ago.

The bot API (for 4PC) doesn't return the opponent's response. @omatamix and @tony also confirmed.

Not working properly in Android

Fog of war chess pieces are sometimes visible when they shouldn't be. Also, sometimes I can see shadows of pieces my opponent has moved. Further, sometimes pieces are not visible when they should be.

WTF is going on with 4PC?

I have the same problems as k20shores. Plus I cannot move by playing on my phone, I cannot see the names of the players playing with the black pieces. The buttons for draw and resign are partly placed over the board, unless I turn my phone 90°, but that doesn't feel comfortabele.

HI I can see the board in fog of war and before that I could see the square where my opponent move his pieces

I mean, variants was never optimized for phone, but not being able to move at all is definitely an issue I'll ask about, since touch screen computers are also affected by this.

In the updated new version:

a) there are very annoying points (showing possible moves), impossible to remove,

b) the zombie king is not shown as previously,

c) there is no more specific sound when it's YOUR move.

Guys, why on Earth are you changing something that works well?

in spell chess, if you attempt to freze a players piece that is checking your king, and then castle (your not really castling out of check as spells block checks.) the game frezes.

in this game my opponent attempts to freze my checking queen and then castle, but a popup came in the top right hand of the screen, saying "illegal move" and then MY time was going down, it is unknown who would have lost as he resigned though.

I'm noticing some weird visual effects in variants in the web browser today. Pieces are all more grayed out than usual. More concerningly, in the game of Fog of War I played, the squares where my opponent's pieces were starting/going were sometimes highlighting in yellow, despite being deep in fog! E.g., I could see their first move highlighted, g2-g3.
