What’s wrong with the Berlin ?

it's one of the most drawish openings

Nothing really “wrong” with the Berlin, just that a lot of odd Ruy Lopez players get frustrated about how solid it is

I can only complain about the rating inflation, I don't understand 900s. You played fine in the opening - 3. e3 is a bit weird but solid, so is 3...e6, but in the spirit of this thread, there isn't much else to say. Your opponent's 5...e5 was just plain brainless, you get an immediate winning advantage. There's not really much opening-related meat in there to discuss.

Fair enough, and yeah, at least when I was a measly 900 I could get out the opening mostly Haha

Does anyone have a good line against the Caro-Kann

I actually just came out of a lesson with my coach solely about the caro, i can pm you some stuff if you want

this is what I play against the Caro very fun and I usually don't castle but really it's just hard to play the Caro
