I've been trying to get to the 700-800 range before september and I'm kinda struggling. All advice would be welcome.

one tip is to increase your paranoia about undefended pieces (try to focus on not blundering)

That is the million-dollar question. I still need those answers too. But in my journey, I have gotten some tips. Don't worry about your Elo. Dedicate a few months to playing many games a day and not caring if you win or lose. Play games to learn. After you have felt you have gotten better try to push Elo and improve. I hope that helped and I know that was not a crazy answer. I am also looking for tips to be a better chess player. Good luck to everybody on the chess grind!

Puzzles are not the cure for actual chess games. They can help but do not over do the puzzles. Try to also play games of chess too. But puzzles can help in looking for a hanging piece or more creative mates/M1s.

Just before you move ask yourself how your opponent can come to ur side of the board and attack u. If they can, then calculate so you dont blunder so thats step 1. Step 2 is to trade of any piece on your side or putting preasure on your side of the board. Step 3 is to make sure your opponent has no threat and ask yourself how you can go forward to your opponents half and check, capture, or attack something so ye

Play high rated players, You will learn from your mistakes and, you may learn tactics that you did not know. also if you lose to someone higher rated you don't lose as much rating and, if you win you gain more so low risk high reward.

Since you do play rapid, I would suggest taking your time (make sure that your move is good), try think of what your opponent is trying to do (You could rotate the board so you see your opponents pieces, makes it easier) and try to learn opening traps that could get you easy wins.

ditto to everyone telling you to work more puzzles. Just do puzzle after puzzle after puzzle. You need to get your head to where it sees all the pieces and spots threats you can make and threats your opponents are likely making.

always look at your opponent's ideas. do lots of puzzles and set goals (ex in rapid try to get to 1000 and for puzzles try to get to 2200). finally have fun!

For me, the solution I got was to play faster time controls pref 5 min in your case because people tend to blunder more, and always look for checks, captures, attacks, and when a piece is pinned put pressure on the pinned piece, lastly ALWAYS LOOK FOR WHAT YOUR OPPONENT WANTS

I would recommend studying chess books, like Silman’s complete endgame course: From beginner to master by IM Jeremy Silman; How to reassess your chess: Chess mastery through chess imbalances by IM Jeremy Silman; and Understanding chess move by move. These books played a really important role in my 0 ELO to 1400 ELO journey.
