Can I run USCF rated events for my OTB club on chess.com

@Martin_Stahl - does USCF restrict rated play to this club, or can I run an event that's USCF online rated for members of my OTB/IRL club? I know everyone's Ids and I'm a Local TD so is it just a matter of collecting the results and submitting them? Don't want to step on toes if this is something only this group is permitted to do. Thanks!!

From the FAQ:

4. I'm a US Chess Certified Tournament Director. Can I run rated events on Chess.com?

As of 3/25/20 Affiliates can run Online Quick and Online Blitz events. https://new.uschess.org/news/online-rated-us-chess-events/

I am always looking for more online rated games. Specifically longer time controls. So, if you have a club online, I would be interested.

You'll need to verify your club members and have an affiliate to submit through.

The site doesn't provide a direct way to submit events. You'll need to have a way to get the data from the site and combine everything in a format that is supported by the US Chess MUIR system.

Check the US Chess list of valid sites for OnLine rated play. Looking an the on-line Tournament Life Announcements (TLAs) can highlight some sites currently used.

Swissys has a feature for helping to run US Chess online rated events on chess.com. If you own the software, it should be helpful. More details here: https://new.uschess.org/rules/swisssys-feature-helping-chess-com-us-chess-rated-events.

You could also get them to join this club(where Martin verifies the IDs) to ensure they have linked their chess.com account to their profile. You could then use the US Chess Online Rated Play Database(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c0GRuLXw-OUB5mJR_OLGKuvJqJw2UU2Kaju94GRgl60/edit?pli=1&gid=0#gid=0) to verify the username is actually the player’s before rating the event.

As per running the event goes, you can use either one of these methods.

1) Make a club, get members to join after verifying them, and run a Swiss tournament. This works best if you intend to make it free.

2) If you intend to charge an entry fee, you can make the players challenge each other on chess.com.

If you prefer Lichess, that works too, but the Swissys feature doesn’t work there and you need a different way of verifying their IDs and running the tournament(teams with tournament entry codes usually work best).

Hope this helps!

Is mine. I eventually gave up on running events as I struggled to gain members into the club.
