Canadian system Vote chess games:Rules

We will start a Canadian Vote chess game once we agree on the rules:

1)Suggesters suggest moves and explain them. They don't vote.

2)Voters can also suggest moves if they can explain them.

3)Explanation has to be complete.Moves without adequate  explanation can not be approved and voted even if they win immediately.

4)Any Voter must first state his chosen move before voting. When  he  does , I will assume he understands the move and I can make a question. If he doesn't answer, he loses his right to vote and has to find another move or not vote at all.If he answers or if I don't have a question he can vote but it is advisable to wait as a better move may appear.

5)I won't correct wrong moves. In fact  I may suggest some.Voters have to find  the mistake. It's their job.

6)Opening will be played and explained by me.

Remember that this is for you so any idea that will help you learn better is wellcome.

The suggested time limit is 3 days a move.

all except #5  are good ideas

There is a reason behind #5.Sometimes mistakes are very insytructive , much more than correct moves but if you don't want it , I won't do it.

Michael, I personally would prefer that you not suggest any wrong moves.  You are the authority figure here, and we need to be able to trust what you say.  But I have no objection if you just don't correct our wrong moves.

Isn't it better to be able to trust yourselves?

There are no "authority figures" in chess but I agree that a  "truth or lie" sub-game in a vote chess game is dubious.

Maybe I can give you , 2 or 3 moves , warning you that only one of them is correct.

Now that would certainly have the effect of making me start thinking Smile

I like this idea.  Regarding just suggesting a wrong move, I'm perfectly fine with that as well, so long as afterwards at some point it was explained what was wrong with the move that was suggested, regardless of if the opponent took advantage of the opportunity, unless it's obvious in hindsight, of course, such as giving the opponent a mating pattern which was played out in the game.

I definitely agree. I like these rules very much. Michael-G, you've had a very interesting idea. Since I'm just 1400, I'm looking forward to being a voter.

I like the idea, including #5. IMO the teacher teaches, rather then just give the correct answers. If all you ever do is give the correct answers, then we as students don't learn to question you. We instead just accept your answers and IMO this can cause us students to fail to fully understand why, or possibly even try to understand.

I'll go with what the group suggests, but I thought I'd share my opinion. I'm looking forward to this game. It sounds interesting.

The game has already started.Look at group's vote chess games.
