@chiefjab - Both good moves and both turn into much different games.
Caro Kann: advance variation 3...Bf5 vs 3...c5?
I prefer 3...Bf5. I have even experimented with 3...Na6 but it really is not that good. Why not join one or both of the Caro-Kann groups and play vote Chess with us? Aspasa and Bramblyspam are my teammates in those groups.
Thanks guys, so I'll have go through some more games for both options.
What of ideas or strategies for both?
That's more information than can be effectively posted in this format.
If you're looking for books, Houska covers 3... c5 in her Caro-Kann repertoire book, while Schandorff covers 3... Bf5 in his. Both books are good.
If you want to explore sample games, they're pretty easy to look up online. I use the opening explorer on 365chess.com.
Help guys, want to know your views on these two options in the advance variation whether to go with Bf5( which is most popular) or c5(which I hardly see people play)
Thanks for your contribution.
