I have the following players/people reaching out they are willing to help:

Nicholas Gragg
David Burton
joseph geraci
Randy Engelby
John Miller
and probably more that I can't find now ..
I'd love to see you guys chime in here or get together in person and make some plans.

Pro Am Chess League is a Chess.com Club Affiliate and thus receiving some regular support from Chess.com in ways of memberships and stuff. Whenever you guys are ready, I'm happy to get someone updated on that.

thanks!

Hijacking this post to get the word out. We are meeting in person tomorrow (July 10th) at the KCK Main branch library (625 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, KS) from 6-8:30. We can talk about this in person then. I'll be getting in touch with Anna tomorrow as well unless someone has already spoken to her.

A handful of us met Monday at the KCK Public Library:

  • Nick Gragg
  • John Miller
  • Tamara Dovodja
  • Randall Engleby
  • Houston Jennings

To sum up:

  • We have the KCK Library space for both 7/17 and 7/24 (Mondays). We'll meet at 6 pm, and hope everyone can show up!
  • Permanent disposition of various resources (USCF Affiliate, Facebook Group, website/domain/e-mail/Google Apps, Meetup, Kingregistration) is pending Nick's conversation with Anna Blair: she has the credentials to all of these things.
  • Tamara spent a considerable amount of time working with Andrew on the website, flyers, and tournament planning. She can definitely elaborate on this.
  • I (John) now have my Club TD certification, and we have the blessing of Eric Mullins in Manhattan, KS to temporarily rate games under their USCF affiliate.
  • We need to find where meetings are currently advertised and either edit or cancel them so people don't show up at the wrong locations.

My personal contact info is 913-901-7362 (cell) and jorymil@gmail.com. I don't have any more info yet, but feel free to reach out if you'd like to talk or need a hand.

After this week, we're looking for a new meeting space. It's important that it be as free or low-cost as possible: even $20/hour spread over 3 hours comes out to between $5-10/person depending on usual attendance. We'd like to keep attendance free if at all possible, so if you have ideas, keep 'em coming!
