I don't know, this is just some information if we do a congress. They also supply for rapidplays, but may charge

Well not only will a congress require 3 days booked off school / work but also it would require 3 days room lease AND for those travelling a long distance it would also require 3 days accommodation!!

Not true, if it's a 5 round tournament, take a bye rnd 1, then only stay overnight for 1 night, or do 2 nights if don't take bye or 6 rnd congress. Also, more people come and play in congresses, rapidplays generally get little interest as it's only 1 day

Maybe it is my lack of over-the-board experience but why put some fancy name onto a chess tournament?
CCF Mindagmes supply a chess stall and rent chess boards and clocks for congresses and rapidplays. I've made a forum post as I've e-mailed them asking them how many boards they rent, and how much the stall would be, and if they do rapidplays and/or congresses. Not sure which we're thinking of doing, congress would be more serious and brillian, rapidplay would be a lot of fun, or maybe a mega tournament, with blitz and rapidplay both at same venue.
