Can somebody come up with a conposition that reaches (or includes) this mating pattern?

I got nothing ..... :(

Crazychessplaya

What was black's last move? Not possible, IMO.

Kornrade

Does this count? Your mate pattern is a variation though.

-1:... Ke8->f8

0: Rd8#

is always a possibility

Crazychessplaya

Uuups, did not see "black to move" in the diagram...

heinzie

I don't know if you desperately want that wK on d3, and if you want it to happen in a directmate setting without any further conditions. If not, here's a h#2 (1 solution)

rooperi

thanx, I was thinking directmate....

and the white king doesn't matter, maybe even at h6 with the g pawn removed.

It's just a interestng pattern, I cant remember seeing it anywhere.

heinzie

I saw it in a tonydal thread

heinzie

You could try something lame-ish like this (white to move, mate in two)

heinzie

K at h6 seems interesting, should be possible, why not. In the first position you give, there are two black pawns that could move if not check, now there is only one to domesticate

Kornrade

So what is wrong with the puzzle with black king in front of the pawns? Is it because the mate pattern is only a variation in the puzzle?

I'm not really sure what you're trying there, Kornrade :/

Kornrade

Look at the move list, you'll see your mate with the king in front of the pawns.

But as the main line, I gave the toughest defense by black.

rooperi

Ah, ok.

I guess Kin in front of the pawns is the same. Now, can somebody find a forcing line? lol
