Damn! You are starting off in a great spot!
You are exactly the kind of person I am scared to face OTB. I am sure your OTB will go nuts if you start playing OTB.

I have played OTB (5 tournaments), but generally, I've always played down. I've never lost rating in an OTB tournament, so there is that. I'm planning on playing in the World Open in Pennsylvania this summer in the U1400 section and I want to do well in that. I want to prepare as well as I can for that tournament, but I'm just concerned that online play won't transfer to the tournament as well as I want
I have done almost all my training online; I think that slower games online do translate pretty well. However, bullet and blitz in my experience do not translate as well. Many people play openings in bullet/blitz they would never play OTB.
Also, if you are playing at 2000 level online and go to play an OTB even that is U1400 there is a good chance you are going to face different stuff. I would encourage you to play a higher section at the world open. Even if it doesn't mean you will win as many games, you will learn more, be challenged more, and very likely gain more rating points.
I just played around on the calculator and found that if you played all games vs people your own rating and won every single game, you'd gain slightly less points than if you played all players around 1700 and only won two of them.

I understand that playing up would be better for my rating, and probably for my chess skills. However, there is a considerable prize fund in the U1400 section. I think if I truly don't belong in that rating section, then I should be able to win the section. Once I'm over 1400, I won't have the opportunity again to play in the U1400 section, so I might as well play in this section while I still can.
I can't really comprehend 2000 bullet. ![]()
Good luck on the plan and in the World Open tournament. I'm going to try a few small OTB tournaments some time later this year but have a similar worry that my meager online rating will mean I get smoked.

I feel you; I used to always play in the lowest section I could to win money and I did earn money but at this point I don't care so much about the money or even winning the event. I only want rating.
and playing up seems to be the least risky way to do that.
That's fair. However, when there are a few thousand dollars at stake, it's hard not to care about money.

Your bullet rating is crazy and up 200 points in just a few weeks? People in the U1400 OTB aren't going to know what hit them.
I think my next classical OTB event will be the world open is early July. Yeah, To be fair, at the start of the weeks, I was down from my peak of 2150 bullet, so like, it wasn't such a huge jump up
