You sure? The Alfil seems weaker than the Ferz to me.
Chaturanga piece values
Well, for me, I have usually experienced the Ferz being more useful than the Alfil, but I did have a game with a decent Alfil recently.
why is it so good?
it's just the same piece as it is in standard chess, and that piece is worth 5
It's just that because there's no stronger piece, it gives it more relevance and control over the board

Same effect with the knight.
no, it's not
I've played chaturanga for a long time and thought about that.
I've come to the conclusion that yes, the alfil can only go to 8 squares, and the ferz can do 32, but the alfil always comes in more handy than the ferz, as it can get to it's squares faster and those squares are also very useful
But, the Alfil can get trapped very easily due to its limited movement
we can't do decimal piece values for simplicity's sake lol
If you don't want decimals, then round the numbers
I'd say it's
Rook : 7.50
Knight: 5.85
Ferz: 1.25
Pawn: 1.00
Alfil: 0.65
