I'd say it's

Rook : 7.50

Knight: 5.85

Ferz: 1.25

Pawn: 1.00

Alfil: 0.65

You sure? The Alfil seems weaker than the Ferz to me.

And I might give the rook 6

Avatar of RaufAmiraslanov

The alfil is just garbage it only can ever land on 8 squares

Avatar of RaufAmiraslanov

8/64 is just such a small fraction

I didn't expect this to actually get comments

Avatar of RaufAmiraslanov

Nah, The Rook is 7.5 bruh

Avatar of Dranyam00

Well, for me, I have usually experienced the Ferz being more useful than the Alfil, but I did have a game with a decent Alfil recently.

because I wanna see people's agreements and disagreements about da piece values in Chaturanga

Ferz is like x2 stronger than Alfil

Avatar of RaufAmiraslanov

Alfil: 0.65

Ferz: 1.25

why is it so good?

it's just the same piece as it is in standard chess, and that piece is worth 5

It's just that because there's no stronger piece, it gives it more relevance and control over the board

Same effect with the knight.

we can't do decimal piece values for simplicity's sake lol

no, it's not

I've played chaturanga for a long time and thought about that.

I've come to the conclusion that yes, the alfil can only go to 8 squares, and the ferz can do 32, but the alfil always comes in more handy than the ferz, as it can get to it's squares faster and those squares are also very useful

But, the Alfil can get trapped very easily due to its limited movement

I think: Rook-6, Knight-4, Ferz-1, Pawn-1, Alfil-1.

If you don't want decimals, then round the numbers

I wouldn't say that Ferz, Pawn and Alfil are all tied at 1, The Ferz isn't that bad, it's better than the Pawns, 1.25 for the Ferz. And the alfil sucks because it can easily get trapped in those 8 squares

Trapped by what? No decimals, and if you round 1.25, it's still 1.
