Pls submit your choice for Wesley So Coach. HIs manager Sir Reggie is now looking for one. Maybe Wesley has to go to Russia ala Le Quang Liem

When it comes to coaches/trainers....Syempre,the best for Wesley. The combination of Dvoretsky/Dolmatov or Dvoretsky/YusupovSmile

Another is Oleg Romanishin and Alex Chernin. One must remember that when getting foreign coaches.Best of the best can be found in "Eastern Block" countries and from some former USSR countries like Ukraine,Armenia,Azerbadjan and Latvia, aside from Russia.

Like any job, I think you need to interview the applicant first. Most of these coaches impose their own style on the pupil which is not good! You have to ask them what will the training strategy be and see if you like it. Are they open-minded? Are they open to suggestions? Lots of questions to answer!

In the end, you want a coach who will formulate a training strategy that fits Wesley's chess style and even his lifestyle.

You do not have to get one just for the sake of having one it it's not the right one. Eugene did well without one. Oh, and so did this fellow I know named Bobby.

whew nice development!

Thank you guys for the answer...

Very good inputs from Iskuba and Geniokov. Yes Dvorestsky name always come up.

About the budget Jabez, if you remember the press release from PSC's Harry Angpin, the 1 or 2 million , yes, that's where it will come from.

But Mr. Tee have to send the proposal to Mr. Harry, so we need your input.

One strategy you can do in looking for a coach is by getting all the names of the more prominent GMs in the 1980s and 1990s and start making contact or even just research if they are doing some kind of coaching or teaching right now. They don't have to be Russians. Any good GMs should do. They probably have websites. In this internet age, you can talk to them without going there. If you could talk to all the candidates, you will have a better idea after hearing from them.

Welcome to cc, Sugardom!

I think Dvoretsky expressed his interest of coaching Wesley based on what Sir Regge said from one of the meet ups, if my memory serves me right. He even gave his calling card to Wesley but Wesley left it in the hotel. Maybe Dvoretsky has a website or something?

Anyway, I think <Iskuba> is right, the coach should compliment Wesley and his chess. As for Dvoretsky, he is known for his strong coaching technique (at least from what i've read), probably strict to a fault, so the interview <Iskuba> was talking about would also be good.

The only problem with Dvoretsky - marami kasi syang brokers kaya medyo alangan sina congpitz...

Gusto nilang gayahin yung experience ni Le Quang Liem. Nagpunta siya sa Russia at nagpaturo kay Bareev at Khalifman.

just want to share this thread below (related to your concern) ... that somehow had discussed thoroughly our concern on the need of Wesley So to have a Coach and/or a Training Team for him.  Strategies on how to raise fund for this purpose was also discussed & recommended.

as to the prospective coach we have:  Coach GM Elizbar Ubilava – former coach of Viz Anand &  Indian Olympiad team  on the list.

Also mentioned FIDE's List of Accredited Trainers as reference in scouting for a coach/trainer.   Anatoly Karpov is listed therein. GM Beliavsky & others.

also recently, with GM Garry Kasparov new reduced coaching/training time with GM Magnus Carlsen, he might be available to train Wesley for a short term period.

hehe testing lang po yung sa taas. Puede din pala dito.

Bro Nf3em pagkatapos nung CG game (sa totoo lang matagal ng talo ang RP dun hehe) baka puede dito naman.

In an earlier talk with GM Bong (sayang, heard he's now back to Spore) and I shared in CG, Dvoretsky's rate is skyhigh, something like $400 per hour.

Meron pa raw mga effective coaches who have reasonable rates, ang ma-recall ko lang na name ay si Dorfman.

Or maybe checkout also the Russian GMs, maybe even Karpov might be open and more reasonable than Kaspy.

This is definitely a good development for GM Wes, tricky lang yung right choice!

Avatar of pinoymaster77

Mas lalo na si Kaspy, he's a businessman, kung isuma total it might run up to millions of dollars (kasama yung profit sharing schemes), kaya naman natuloy yung kay Carlsen for a short time, there were corporate sponsors.

So yung 1 million pesos sa atin ay less than USD 20K lamang....

Umpisahan na yang game 2!! Smile

About coaching, maybe the chinese stars of the 80s are coaching. Mas mga disciplined yun!

Dvoretsky is good but he is overpriced and for me, overrated! People think that he trained Gary. Alalay lang sya dun! Doon lang sya natuto mag-train. Alexander Nikitin ang talagang trainer ni Gary.

about RP vs ROW Game 2, kung ano mapagkasunduan go go go ako jan ...

with regards to Wes' coach/trainer me punto kayo lahat ... Wes deserve the best ... how about Tolya (Karpov)?

Yes Bro SugarDom ... i'm residing now in Molino, Bacoor, Cavite.

What time u be going there @ MOA or what U think would be the best time we could meet them there?  I'll prepare a brief presentation on this in my notebook computer so we could easily present & discuss it to them.

ano mayron sa MOA this coming Sunday?  March 28 - Pichay Cup nga pala ano?

Pls arrange mo nalang specific time we could meet them & i'll proceed & drop by nalang sa MOA or kong what specific place tayo magkita. Sunday kasi Church family day kasi namin.  Anyway, i could easily adjust ... marami din kasing services sa church (early a.m. till evening).
