it sucks. Now Chess.com has even more pressures. They don't make much money off 4pc and variants, so they focus on regular 2p chess servers. As you have noticed, due to the rapidly increasing popularity in chess, the servers are getting overextended, and if they don't fix that problem, then chess.com won't make as much money, which means that 4pc might never get improved without focusing on 2pc first.
Chess.com Server Issues - What This Implies for 4PC

Yeah, I do notice that streaming is still heavily based around 2PC and I don't mind chess.com prioritizing one over the other; sad that Variants have been completely forgotten though.
By the way, these are responses from chess.com-hired people.... bruh
they ignore variants as it isn't as popular. Imagine chess.com deletes the whole variants server. Chess.com can still continue as a successful business, as only 5% of demand is lost. But if you delete the whole 2p server, then 95% demand is lost, and then its bye bye to Chess.com as it is bust. Then the variants server also has to be deleted.

In a nutshell:
Y'all have probably seen dozens of forums on the Variants server, with many complaining about lag and server crashes. It's getting repetitive at this point and it's becoming clear that even 4PC admins can't really have a say on the server issues either.
What's bad isn't necessarily that we're losing out rating points unfairly, what's bad is that it's been ELEVEN months since the merge. In the span of 2 weeks, chess.com spent 2 million dollars on the main server and got everyone on the job; in the span of about 10x that time, chess.com hired, what, 2 new staff members who can code????
Maybe we need to start spamming the inboxes of chess.com staff... customer support told me to "clear my cache"...
