Did your opponent resign after that move, or did you stop there because it was a clear win? I usually win games like that against higher rated opponents (but then lose other games to lower rated opponents) so my chess ratings tend to swing between high and low extremes (I am on a losing streak right now). Your game was definitely a good comeback. I like those types of games better in chess then games that seem to have a destined outcome from the start.

As for the game editor, I've had trouble with that before, too. One thing you can do to ensure you use it correctly is to check your game and comments (no pun intended) before you insert the game. Also, your moves have to be listed vertically (two moves per column) in PGN format, or else the game editor will only read the first column of moves, so you can't copy it out of Stockfish, as I learned.

The opponent resigned.

I just played a pretty good game. It may not look like much to those who are higher in rating than me, but for me it was relatively good. My only qualm was my static rook sacrifice to gain time - I still was ahead in material, but it wasn't quite sound. Here is a link to the game. I tried to paste it using the PGN three times, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to work.

That was a good game, camberfoil. I liked how there was always some action happening with the pieces - straight from the opening, there were trades, sacrifices, etc.

Thanks! I would say that it is my turn-based magnum opus as of right now, though I'm sure it will be superceded eventually. :)

Here is one of the strangest (and one of the longest) games I've ever played. I just played this 10|0 game in the World Mind Games, but it is so weird I thought I would post it here. My opponent started underpromoting for no apparent reason and trying to checkmate me, but I think it could have been stalemate (my moves became very limited) if I hadn't lost on time.

Tht would have been stalemate eventually, it would have been difficult for him to mate with 3 knights :O

How innapropriate!

I don't understand this underpromotion out-of-spite nonsense - so maybe your opponent was annoyed because you didn't resign - If he was, why not try to end the game more quickly?

I don't understand it either-my opponent had completely destroyed me and yet didn't focus on winning the game at all. I was ruined in the first 40 moves and the game carried out to 93 moves. It might have gone much longer hadn't I run out of time.

I didn't know what to expect so I kinda improvised this game. I kinda thought when he brought his other pawn down the board that he was gonna pressure my bishop but instead he made a bad move and it was curtains once I positioned my pieces where I planned to put them and unfortunately he put himself in a trap. I don't think he really knew how to use that two knights defense he was setup for.

I'm confused as to why your opponent resigned after 15 moves. Though you were clearly winning (and could set up a mating net after 16. Qf1+ Ke7), it wasn't completely over for your opponent.

I know he could have turned the tables on me too and put me in a bad position, I went and looked back at it he was really upset his queen was dead no matter what move he did next and his game was over, he was relying on her, now I see why he cursed me out and accused me of cheating. LMAO

Here is an OTB game I played with the Tuesday night crew. Josh always plays the Queens Gambit and I usually play the King's Indian Defense.

Yea I know it wasn't a Master's level game (or evven close) but it was fun and I won. Smile

Here is my other game from 11-4-14. We didn't use a clock. The game took about an hour.

Tony usually plays better, but a win is a win. For sure there have been night I played bad. Wink

I like the second game especially. Thank you for posting those games, JustADude80.

I started out with a version of the Two nights defense that I modified a bit, but then it started to look bad for me; so after a few modifications I lulled him into taking the far pawn while I already had my pieces positioned to take the left. It just happened by chance that I noticed that I could use my queen a bit to mate him and it came to life after I took his pawn with my pawn. This was tuesday nights team game.

maguszero85,

White is going for a quick win with the Scholar's Mate but White should suffer long-term damage by bring his queen out too early. In my experience the key to refuting such an attack is ...Nf6, which blocks the queen from the f7 square with sound development, and/or ...Nc6 (https://gameknot.com/annotation.pl/how-to-beat-scholars-mate?gm=44197), which protects the e pawn. I would have played 3...Nf6. Here's a famous game where Napolean Bonaparte lost miserably when attempting a Scholar's Mate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRpPz19trRw. I use that game as a paragon for how to refute that attack.

I had a friend that was way better than me that used to always hit me with it first it was impossible to figure out then after a while i started really paying attention and making moves for it. I even made an opening for it from a cross of the bluemich, pirc, botvinik, and portuguese.  I called it either Gevurah or Chesed I have to look for my notes to confirm
