I got a good win last night in our Tuesday night OTB chess.
Tony didn't play his best, but neither did I. I was happy to get the win.

Thanks Camberfoil. I can tell you a little of the story that goes with it.
Tony and I are pretty even in chess strength. If I don't play my best he will probably beat me but if I do, he won't. He and I are close to the same age. I am late 50's and I think he is 50.
Our regular Tuesday night OTB crowd is about 8 or 10 men and two or three ladies if everyone shows up. On the typical Tue night we have about 7 or 8 people there. Yesterday we were texting and emailing to see who was gonna be there and almost everone was too busy. So Tony and I agreed to meet and play one serious game - no clock.
We hadn't played each other in about two months and I won that last time so he was anxious to get a win. So i was real happy to win last night.
You know Zak, I knew I was missing a clever move along there, but I didn't see it at that time. Thanks for your commnets!!
This game shows how much more play your opponent gets if you keep making multiple moves with same piece in the opening
This is a game that I played with my regular Tuesday night OTB group. Fred is better than me, and I have beaten him only once in about ten tries. This time I played black. When the night got late we called it a draw even though there was a lot to still be played.
This was aggresive hard hitting chess. It is not a masterpiece, but it was fun.
I guess sometimes you get lucky. This guy is probably way better than me, but I was playing pretty well. It was a 10 minutes blitz game. I had forced mate on him but only had 18 seconds left on my clock. He was kind enough to resign.
With only 18 seconds left on my clock I doubt I would have won, even thought I had forced mate in 4 or 5 moves. It was nice off him to resign. We were playing unrated. Note that in blitz I am rated less that 900 and this guy is almost 1500.
To post a game:
First you shoud have downloaded your game to somewhere on your computer in .pgn format. Open the .pgn file and using Notepad, copy the whole thing with Notepad. Notepad comes with Windows so you probably have it.
Go to the forum in chess.com.
Start posting in the the forum box. Type in your text that you want to say above the board diagram.
Then look up at the top of your little box where you are typing. See that little chessboard to the left of the tree? Click that.
It will open a big box that has 3 options. Choose the middle one, Game or Sequence of moves.
Second screen you pick Use .pgn File. There is a box there. Paste the file that you copied with Notepad. Click continue.
There are some options, that you can play with to do special tricks. After you click "Insert" and it is done.
Can you believe it? I actually won a game by Anastasia's mate!
I have watched the Clasic Checkmate Patterns videos and I play thousands of Tactics Trainer puzzles, but I always laugh when I see a smothered mate or an Anastasia's mate. I make the joke that smothered mate is like bigfoot, I see it on TV or on the computer, but I will never see it in real life.
In this game i actually had forced mate - Anastasia's Mate - a few moves earlier but didn't see it. But better late than never. And oh yea, i played terrible in general.
The opponent typed in the chat box "WOW".
I really stink at blitz. I need to play more.
I got a win. It wasn't a pretty game, but some of it was pretty.
Can't win them all, but I won this one.
From a game last night. I didn't take notation, but I think this was the key position when Tony (blk) should have taken the draw, but tried for the win instead.
It was a fun game. Tony and I are pretty even in chess.
This past Saturday I played in my first USCF rated tournament ever. I got a draw in the first game.
Just because it was my first USCF rated game ever, I was happy to get a draw. On the day I played 3 games. I lost round 2 and got another draw in round 3.
Cabuji, Such beautiful game. Congratulations! And thanks for playing! I thought 16.Kg7 could maybe shrug the attack off but then Qf7+ Kh6 and Ng4# is even nicer! Beautiful play Gabuji!
