I'll start:

1. You don't want to move your queen out too early.

2. Try to make sure that all of your pieces are doing something.

3. Know your endgames.

4. develop your pieces, primarily: the bishops, knights and pawns

5.centralise, try and control the 4 centre squares and this will give you control of the other 60

6. try and castle for king safety

7.think about the position

10. Try not to stay on the defensive, attack!

11. Consider every possible check or capture, force moves (where your opponent must respond immediately) cut down on your opponent's options.
