One that I played and enjoyed was called Waterloo. It's bit complicated with lots of pieces on a 10x10 board, but can be fun. But it hasn't been played in a while. Unfortunately when a tournament was mentioned, nobody signed up. (and I was too busy at the time). Here's an example:
