Chess960 WL2024 Divisions

The 2024 season of the Chess960 World League will be getting underway shortly, in the second half of this month.  

A few reminders for everyone to be aware of:

1. As last year, we will be strictly enforcing start times. Matches need to have the scheduled start time set, and the required participation needs to have been met by that time so that matches can start automatically at the day and time scheduled for the round.
2. Divisions A, B, C will be played in a round robin format, and divisions D and E will be played in a Swiss System format.
3. Players are only allowed to play official Chess960 World League matches for 1 team each season and will have their match scores adjusted if they violate this rule multiple times. A player can choose to play for a different team in Chess960 World League 2023 than he does in World League 2023, but the recommendation clearly is to play for the same team in all leagues for simplicity.
4. All closed accounts will continue to be included in the match score adjustments.

Here are the divisions based on the Chess960 WL2023 standings as of Jan 1, 2024, which are also shown briefly on the left side of the table below.  Please note that these are not the final standings for the 2023 season, just the interim standings used for setting the divisions this season.  Final standings for 2023 will be announced when all matches have a decisive result.

A couple of notes on the divisions:

1. There have been very few changes this year. Only one team has dropped out of Division E.
2. The promotions and relegations could be done very easily this year, simply the normal 3 per division.
