Huge thank you to all of the coaches that donated many hours each week to teach each of the qualifiers!
In particular, I want to thank my coach, IM Yuriy Krykun. He was a phenomenal coach. His lessons were engaging and extremely instructive! He's also a really nice guy.
Per Twitter ("X" ...), I think all four of his students made it to the semi-finals. While I won my first game in the semi's, I lost the second and the second tiebreaker. I think had a winning position in each loss, but got too low on time. I only mention this to highlight that, after four quick hour-long lessons with Yuriy, my chess improved significantly. I plan on using my winnings to take more lessons with him. Anyone looking for a coach - reach out to him!
I want to join you in thanking our mutual coach Yuriy! I had a lot of fun in his lessons and think I learned some chess as well - four hours really isn't that long. Like you, I reached the semis, where I went 1-1 and lost the tiebreaker. Anyway, it was a fun event :-)
