Classical Tournament

I would like to organise a classical tournament! Tell me what you think about it!

Format:  We will do the pairings in the discord & in the forum here and you will have 1 week to play 1 round, so you have to find common time together with your opponent. So, the tournament will have 9 rounds, it means, the whole event should last around 2 months.

Time control: We can decide on it, but it should be classical time control (30-60 minutes with/without increment).

Prizes: We can do just a friendly tournament, or with prizes in a form of chess lesson with me which could be randomly given away.

Who is up to it? Also please, let me know if you have some suggestions/improvements.

I would like to participate. Is this only for GMs and IMs? High level players?

I assume it's for all the subscribers, or she wouldn't offer chess lessons as a prize .

I like the idea, but only if the time format is with increment. I hate to lose won positions just cause I didn't blitz out the last moves...

I'm certainly up for it! My preference would be 20-30 mins per round, without increment.

However, in terms of nature of the tournament, I'd mainly keep it friendly. That's because of the matter of the chess lesson prize: it might be a better idea to randomly give this out to the 'weaker' players. The stronger players already have an 'advantage', and eventhough some good chess lessons might always be a good idea for whatever level you're on (as you can always improve); within the full batch of players participating in this tournament, the weaker players may benefit the most from these lessons.

So in that way, you can involve a greater range of playing levels amongst players in the tournament, the strongest players will be higher up in the tournament (whereof the strongest will win), and a weaker player gets a chance to improve themselves with a good lesson. I'd say it's a fair deal, if possible.

About the time control, I mostly plqy 60 + 0 or 45 + 0, yet faster time control is also fine.

a nice idea, i would be extra fun if people would be in 1 big teams call or something ofcourse with mic on mute so we  can watch each other. (but that is possibly hard to realize)
