I would naturally disagree with Elroch's rather materialistic view, but I don't have the energy right now to drag this into an argument (as I am fond of). Neither would I say that everything is of the same essence-some things are just "properly basic", others aren't. Plus, this view I would imagine conflicts with the phenomenon of emergence.

<laughing> Hmmmm.

Can pursue the debate Strangequark, if you'd like, if not, no worries...re: everything being of the same nature (a better word than essence) vs things are properly basic/other's aren't.

Let me know. Don't want to pursue the debate unless you're willing.

Will quickly be quoting Spinoza if we do go there.

if we chop open our heads, and place our brains on a table, they would all look alike, right?  There would be no racism to the sight of a brain...yet, whatever it think, make it to believe that color could play a roll in who we are...How stupid is that?  We could forget and discard information that do not fit within our puzzle of understanding...We could add to it, by receiving mimes, from other brains that think differently. The only thing that make one brain think different to another, would be a simple electrical impulse...our thoughts are created with charges of electricity...each charge need to be different to the previous, else we might end up always thinking the same thing...logic get formed from a thought that follow from the previous thought, but there are always another view to anything...some of these views are just ignored if the person that think, are happy with what was thought...thoughts become knowledge if many think along the same line...but why would something want to be discovered?  Why should we know of things that was not present in the past...Why does it present itself?  What fuel our thoughts? It is mimes.  Like matter, they fill the unseen space, and are collected by our mind, that act as a magnet that collect mimes, similar to a black hole that collect matter!   Life exist, if matter and mimes come together...and it end when the mimes are too much to be processed, similar to a fire that take the oxygen, and killing itself.  like fish that take the size of its tank.  Perhaps its something on that line, else it wouldn't present itself as a thought.
