After 10 slow games, using an online calculator I recieved a performance rating of 1108 (chess.com rating). That's a bit better than I expected. From analyzing my games I have two main takeaways that appear in most of my games.

  • Not looking for all forcing moves for my opponents.
  • Blundering because of playing too fast.

To keep ratings separate, I'll start playing most (if not all) slow games on lichess, to get a classical rating. One of the hardest things of playing slow these last few weeks was ignoring my rating. It either dropped when I lost a rated game or didn't go up because the game was unrated. I'll play rapid again for the next week or two to try to increase my rapid rating and see how my play has been affected by playing slow games only.

I’ve shifted to focusing on classical games as well. One thing I’ve noticed is that my blunders are more ‘fatal’. In blitz and rapid, I can get away with a lot more.
