Could I suggest a new variant?

This is called 10x10 chess. It's same as standard chess, but different from standard chess by having general as a part of the board.

This game is based on your skills.

There is a forfeit when you have no more piece left, and kings must be captured.

ways to win:

1. capture the king

2. bare piece rule ( if there is no more piece except for your king, you automatically lose. )

a few things -

what is "general"?

is this antichess rules where capturing any piece is compulsory, or just the kings?

and how would strategy factor into this game? if capturing the king is compulsory then it would make sense that both players would just play bongcloud and white would always win...

This is a mix of chaturanga ( but without ferx and afili ), and normal chess and both players can't basically play bongcloud because of capturing the king rule. The strategy could factor into the game by developing the pieces and attacking the pieces or the king, and it dosen't have an antichess rule, just the kings. And plus not any piece and it is not compulsory to capture the king. general is the chess piece (which combines king and knight) that can be both used for offensive and defensive tactics.

Why no rooks but instead stronger rooks. I Would have expected two unique special pieces or one unique piece twice but I guess it's fine.

it's chariot. if you go to mix and match, you can see on bottom, there's replace rook with chariots.
