I'm assuming you mean that these pawns can only move in the direction that the arrows point to? If so, that would be a cool gimmick to employ in games.
Custom pawn directions

I was thinking that there should be an option to customize the forward direction of a pawn independently of the color of the pawn. A suggestion I have for how to customize the pawn directions is to allow the game creator to place an arrow over a pawn to specify what direction the pawn would treat as forward.
For instance in this position if a left arrow was placed over the red pawn then the pawn could move to g2 even if sideways pawns was not enabled as it would treat g2 as being the square immediately in front of it. With a left arrow placed on the red pawn if there was something on g1 or g3 the pawn could capture it, but could not capture something on i3.
I was thinking that all pawns that treat the same direction as forward could have the same promotion squares regardless of color.
For instance if the blue pawn had a right arrow it would promote on the squares a yellow pawn would normally promote as it would treat the same direction as forward as a yellow pawn normally would.
Would be a great new addition to Racing Kings variants!
