2) Which kind of priests do you like the most...?? who asks money from devotees or who serves free for the welfare of all...?? why...??

3) are there chances of priests getting attracted towards money if they are accepting money from devotees...?? how there are chances...??

4) do you like alchohol, cigarette, kind of all drozyness things intakers, or no bad habit people...?? why...??

5) Do you like sorrows...? yes or no...? why...??

@Sara, thank you for starting this forum!Smile It seems I'll answer for the first... well:

1) I try my best to like and respect all kind of people, doesn't matter who they are: all of them are sentient beings trying to avoid pain and looking for happiness. This is often hard to do, I must admit, and sometimes I'm not capable: then I try to observe myself, try to understand why and... "try again!", what else? ;-) Of course I tend to give more consideration to people following the path of sanctity, or spiritual masters, but, you know, sometimes I have had bad surprises by the "saints" and nice surprises by the wicked ones ... ;-)

2) I generally like the most people not asking for money, doesn't matter if they are priests or laic people... guess the reason lol ;-D....

Aside from kidding, in my opinion it depends on circumstances: if they ask because of their attachment, then it's not good, but sometimes the community might need help, and in that case giving a contribution can be right.

3) You mean chanches for them? mmmh, if they take money for their attraction to it, they may get a momentary advantage, but by a forward-looking point of view they are moving towards lots of troubles, because their behaviour has terrible repercussions, on themselves and on the others around.

4) It depends, I generally am more at ease with people trying to be awake on what they do, and less at ease with people acting mechanically, and not always this matches with peoples intaking or not intaking stuff... of course not having bad habits is better, but has to be the result of a mindful work on ourselves, not something mechanical.

5) Being an unpleasant feeling, sorrow should be disliked by all of us, but strangely many people have a sort of attachment to their sorrows!

I try to neither like nor dislike: it's a natural condition in which we can fall, and when it happens we should get rid of it as soon as possible, cos it's a big obstacle to solve our problems, both spiritual and material. In a nutshell, it's a waste of time.

Of course not always I'm capable: in moments in which my mind is weak, I remain entangled in my own sorrows, and get'em out is tougher, but after a while, thanks to the spiritual practice, I succeed.

With sorrowful people, in my opinion, we must feel and show compassion and be kind and tolerant, helping them with patience to emerge from their unpleasant condition.

@ grim...?: 1). Surprises...?? sometimes we see that an impure saint is no good, and a pure household will be having good vibrations inside him...!

2). ok grim, you give contribution to community...? and community leaders misuses it then...?? these bad community leaders, bad saints are of no worth, every good person is worthfull...!

grimantogra

@Sara,

ok on the first point: for each one there's always a possibility to "redemption";

yeah, sometimes I gave money with the intention to help the community, and I think the most important thing - regarding myself - was the intention with which I gave it... if the ones who took it didn't make a good use of it, the problem is all of theirs... ;-)

SARA_SHARMA

Its your mistake if they they use your money against you...! against everyone, for terrorism or any other which in one or other way affects you...! then...?? better dont give if you are not 100 percent sure...! atleast 99 would also be good...!

SARA_SHARMA

in pure buddhism, we never want to be with foolish / crazy people...! as they might harm us by their foolish / crazy deeds...! i mean better to be safe / carefull from them...! from everyone always...! not avoid

grimantogra

let's make 97 per cent...lol

well, at least I'm 100 per cent sure they didn't use for terrorism...

You know, in Italy there's not a tradition about Buddhist institutions, so monasteries and centres need to be built and kept on, monks and masters need to eat and live, and to go around to speak and make conferences, retreats and so on, etc. etc.: I  think my money has be used for that :-)

tuneinlightmusic1

grimatogra i think there is a point in sara's comment, if italy person who took money using it for self ? and monks can get food by households if they give, monks can travel from one place to another if household supports, monks can use their devotees directly devotees ready to provide for conferences, retreats, what if such monks if they start getting heavy desires of world and also they have money ? pure monks in india also tell the same, to become arihant at later stages monks may face some desire kind of feelings, so those pure monks avoid possible fulfilling ideas or necessory needs for fulfilment of it. it may be sexual desire, it may be eating food desire after mid day, or it may be anything. i hope english is good to understand

SARA_SHARMA

i agree with tunein...;)

grimantogra

@tunein, your English is better than mine, no worries :-)

@sara, I can agree with both of you only partially, because we have to look at the specifical condictions by which the Sangha community set up its structures and institutions in a country where Dhamma is not the traditional religion... for example here in Italy they taxe even the air you breath, to make a building costs a lot, etc. etc.

Also, a part of the communities are composed by laical people, many of which contribute to the activities on their own account: it's hard to generalize...

grimantogra

BTW, I see there's a revival of Dhamma in India  (particularly in Karnataka where it has a glorious ancient tradition) from which Buddhism had practically been missing for centuries, and it's a really wonderful news, because India is the land from which originally Dhamma has spread around other countries. :-)

I think we could dedicate Forums and news to the developing of Dhamma in the various country... :-)

2.I like the priests who asks money from devotees because then the devotees will also get a chance to help and will gain merits.
