This weekend on my personal blog I wrote about a set of Special Chess960 Dice used in a chess960 simul by GM Alexander Shabalov during the 2010 Canadian Open. Since this was the only chess960 event at the Canadian Open, I posted a few links about recent chess960 tournaments elsewhere: Chess960 Tournaments Are Rare Birds.
After posting about the tournaments I received an email informing me that chess960 will be a side event at the 111th United States Open Chess Championship: '3 August: U.S. Open Fischer Random Championship'. Will this be the first time it is played at the U.S. Open?
