FFA rapid got hit with a massive decline in players.
Do the admins have a plan?

just edit the board, save to your templates, and enjoy your old style. problem solved like a chess player
many people prefer the current style or just enjoy the challenge of something new. I thought 4player was about enjoying the challenge of something new!!!
Go play play traditional 2 player chess. That hasnt changed in X amount of years

Amigo, seriously. Custom games are not played even for 1/100th compared to standard. In addition, there is no need to create a custom game here as a room "Old standard" exists. BUT for obvious reasons in fact there are no games at all in it (players do not see the games created because of the default settings...). I've tried many times to launch Old std games, with no result.
- It was about 7400
It was over 9000 actually.
Sheesh, it makes the situation even worse.
You'd think the Admins would be alarmed over 3000 players going inactive but it appears to not be the case.

Nah, people need to adjust to the changes or leave.

Yeah what is their response lol?
Doesn't seem to be a coherent plan. Some days it is learn to like it or leave. Some days it is vote on an even newer better setup. Some days it is back to the old setup.

I was going to get back into playing after a break and then found out they changed it and don't feel like learning all over!

Let's be real. It's not JUST 4PC administrative decisions. Let's remember that Chess dot com never *really* cared about the 4PC community. In the first world championship, they tried to hand off announcing to popular streamers who knew almost nothing about 4PC theory. It was a complete insult to the 4PC society. Although streamers changed soon after, the message was sent. And this message has only been emboldened by this variants merger. To chess dot com, 4PC players are nothing more than extra profits. They do not care at all about developing or supporting 4PC (much less than the current admins do, by my estimation). Maybe it really is just time to leave.

There were 9000 players before this mess someone said. How many are there now??
Definitely less; but are we gonna combine all time controls and look at 4P Variants or ignore that those are separate?
And besides, I would genuinely like to know how Radon, without being an admin, knows this “9000” number. Adding to my above line, does this number include inactive players? What counts as a “player”?

First of all it is very easy to look at the FFA Rapid active player count, the actual number of 4pc players will be much higher than this figure as FFA Rapid does not comprise the whole population, just the largest subset. Secondly I may not be an admin but that doesn't mean I am not privy to information that most of the player base are not.
I got on here the other day and old standard was back so I played a few. Now its back to new standard? Do the admins have any sort of plan? Why do they make changes people don't want? Then flip flop? Now there are votes to change to newer starting positions? All the while this forum is full of complaints and there seems to be a lot less people playing.
