Its quite scary to play againts French players because White can not find a foot hold in the game, where small mastakes can effect the outcome of the game for both players.
I was playing a game where I had an objectively won position but then I blundered and suddenly was losing. I decided not to resign in the face of an impending pawn storm and got a quite pretty mating pattern. Addmitedly he would have been fine if he had just captured my knight but he didn't and the rest is history. Those with the winnig position are most likely to get overconfident and feel the sting of the tenacious player that just won't quit!
