Now for an update on our progress in European League 2012:

I think it's not a bad result for a small team. Of course, it would help if we had more (strong) players so please invite any chess-playing friends to join Team Estonia.

Finally, since we played Team Lithuania and won, I thought I would challenge Team Latvia to a match. Well, the result is not very happy -- we are currently down by 4-18 games. Clearly, they have a bigger and stronger team.

Cheers,

do you know how strong is the Team Kosovo?

Here is their page: http://www.chess.com/groups/view/team-kosovo

They are a smaller team than us, so I think we will be favored to win. I just looked at their matches (http://www.chess.com/groups/matches/team-kosovo) and it looks like they are not even playing their European League matches so perhaps we will win by default.

Here is a link to the European League, Division 4 page: http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/el2012---division-4

Johan has not updated this page very often and Division 4 (the lowest division) seems a bit neglected. I think some of the matches were not even played. But hopefully Johan will provide an update soon.

I'm hoping with our good performance we can move to the more serious Division 3 next year.

European League 2012 is complete for us: We won 3 of 3 matches, beating Lithuania, Cyprus and Switzerland (we lost our World League match vs. Switzerland but they agreed to play a separate EL match Laughing).

Maybe this will put us in in the next higher division in 2013?

Overall, Division 4 is a mess because a lot of teams failed to play their matches. Here are the results: http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/el2012---division-4---standings-and-results
