Events for the rest of the year (will be edited periodically)

(UPDATED on 10/19/17) I'll be checking in periodically with some updates on the WS & Greensboro player rosters for the upcoming Club vs. Club match. The event is open to all players who are members of the 2 clubs - just arrive by the posted times (T.B.A.) for each round and bring your boards/clocks/batteries ! Players are also required to write down (or enter electronically if using a TD-approved chess move device) their moves in each game until a player is at 5 minutes or under on his/her time per USCF rules.
Pairings for the 2 USCF-rated games on will more than likely be made according to players' November 2017 USCF ratings (UNRATED players are also encouraged to participate) and will use an 'accelerated' approach to have opponents as close to numerically equal as possible at every board. Each player will play one game with White/Black (2 total games) against the same opponent. The planned Time Control will be G/75 w/d5 (** it may be required, depending on our host venue, that the GCC shorten the time control - T.B.A. **) and more information will be posted here as it arrives from Greensboro contacts that are assisting the GCC with hosting the event.

*** PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE OF THIS USCF-RATED EVENT ***
(UPDATED on 11/30/17 per WSCC)
The WSCC will host the 6th Camel City Open tournament on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Greentree Community Center at 930 S. Broad St. in Winston-Salem. * Fliers will be posted on the club's facebook page. * The club's main website is presently undergoing several changes and won't have the correct information posted immediately.
The event will be USCF Regular-rated for both adult/scholastic players and will consist of 3 rounds of over-the-board games. The time control will be TC: G/75 w/d5. Sections will be determined by the number of players participating.
Registration consists of an entry fee of $25/USCF player and anyone interested can ask the Tournament Director(s) about registering for membership with the USCF. Registration at Greentree will be from 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. with Round #1 set to begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp ! The event should be completed no later than 6:30 p.m. --- spectators are welcome and ALL players are encouraged to bring boards/pieces/clocks/scoresheets/pens or pencils for purposes of recording move notation per USCF rules.
There will also be a Skittles room available for both playing casual games and for studying/review of completed games.
Good luck to all players !
