Falling from Heaven

            Falling from Heaven

we sought our level blue as blue
flowed away to the source of our dreams
I floated in you, my mind held you
cradling me in your perfect arms
you said sweet things I told you
I would listen

now, pure and clear, you are mine completely-
sadly tonight too willing to be poison
even though I want it that way
now, I can only watch you
wounded, falling from the heights
of a promise broken
back to the beginning
your greatest desire to rise
from this hard ground and leave me-
stay

worshipping shadows
you are locked in frozen time
and when you escape, warmed
you rage and thrash in your bed
I will hang on there
only if it pleases you
please

you are silent
your canyons unknowable
still as death you call me Eve
say it again and tell me
how it's going to be
this time I will listen
I promise

I want you in every way
my sorrow forever will gaze
into the depth of your eyes-
we'll be together all our days
and we'll live in the rain
if only

can you hear me?
I am held by your darkness
I will tell you who you are-
tell me again who I am
tell me where we go from here
and I will listen this time
I swear
