My coach GM Macieja once told me "you know, long ago it used to be that people were playing Caro Kann to make a draw and Sicilian to win. Once I asked the jung Polish players (including Wojtaszek) what they play as black to win, and they siad-Caro Kann to win and Sicilian to draw."

Then he said-it means I do not understand chess any more :) (Macieja is a big player of Caro-Kann himself))

I remembered this because when Giri needed to win, he played Caro-Kann, not Sicilian :)
