As a beginner, my favorite opening strategy is to get all of my pieces out safely.

We should start a post describing favorite approaches to specific openings. For instence I play the sicilian against e4, the king's indian defense against d4, and as white I open with e4, and if sicilian I play the grand prix attack, and if e5 I play the kings gambit, although I would really like to learn the Ruy Lopez.
