based on the results of a poll I made a while back, chaturaji is by far the most popular variant. personally, I like a lot of different variants, like Inferno, Salvation Bastions, Villagers Chess I and II, XXL Chess, to name a few, but I don't really have a favorite. I love Fog of War. It is amazing how many games you play against stronger players that look like they were played with full sight of the board.
