Talent - there's no doubt Favre still has talent. Problem is whether he could harness it within McCarthy's system.
When you combine that with the fact that his more recent playoff performances have been pretty weak (especially in cold weather) and he kept the Pack at bay every year with his "I don't know" routine, and you have the recipe for quarterback change.
Don't get me wrong - I love Brett for what he did for the Packers, but I didn't like how he held the team hostage. The Packers are bigger than any player, even Favre.
Aaron Rodgers is a very capable quarterback. If the running game would have been better than last, and if the defense didn't gag so many 4th quarter leads, he would have been held in even higher esteem than he was (by some Packer fans).
Bottom line - his arm strength is excellent, his accuracy is undeniable, and he proved he can play through pain. He ain't Favre yet, but I don't know if I want him to be...
BTW - thanks for joining the group!
Rick
Should the packers have kept him a year longer?
i still think he had plenty of talent left.
also what do you think of our current qb?
