From what I can gather in a nutshell.
FFA and Solo are identical until the 3 player stage. Cooperate with your opposite and mate a flank player.
After that though, it changes. In FFA, you are playing for 1st, but are happy to help your opposite a little too (unless you're an exciting traitor!). In Solo, you immediately gang up on the winning player always
