I don't know if the top echelon of the aforementioned tournament was crooked or not, but I invite you all to investigate the games of G. Jones. He had a 5 move draw and a 6 move win. I can understand a GM draw after 18 moves to conserve mental energy, but 5 moves? Much less 6 moves, 0-1?
...and it looks like i may have gotten the year wrong. I found this tournament in This Week in Chess, not on here. But look up G. Jones on here and you'll find plenty of oddly short games.
